Detectives with the Nicholasville Police Department arrested Colton D. Estes on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, in connection with the robbery of a Nicholasville Speedway.

Estes, 24, of Nicholasville, is currently being held at the Jessamine County Detention Center on a charge of robbery in the first degree. The incident took place at the Speedway convenience store located at the corner of North Main and Barnes Street on February 21.

A statement released on Friday by Sgt. Scott Harvey said that a tip led authorities to Estes as a suspect from the surveillance camera footage that was released. The footage showed a man with a black hood over his head and a bandana covering his face beneath his eyes.

“Cases like this show the power of media coverage, and we are grateful for the public’s help in this investigation,” Sgt. Harvey said in the release.
