A book depicting the history of Jessamine County through various pictures submitted by various community members recently won an award.
George Dean, Book Committee Co-Chairman of the effort behind the recently-released Jessamine County Pictorial History Book, was awarded a plaque on Tuesday for the book being awarded 2016 County Pictorial Book of the Year at the annual Acclaim Press awards banquet.
Upon winning the award, Dean thanked the corporate sponsor of the book, Farmers Bank, and the Creative Art League of Jessamine County. “This was a group effort, and I appreciate everyone who helped develop this lasting piece of county history,” he said.
“This award was based on three main criteria, including the book’s aesthetic appeal, literary significance, and marketability,” said Doug Sikes, Publisher of Acclaim Press. “With nearly 1,300 photographs depicting all walks of life in Jessamine County, it is obvious that folks from Nicholasville and throughout the county certainly appreciate their history.”
The 264-page book offers a photographic history of the county from the 1800s through today. It can be purchased for $52.95 per copy at Farmers Bank.
