A two-car collision in downtown Nicholasville on Tuesday resulted in city property damage.

At the corner of Main Street and Maple, a Ford Focus and Chevy Malibu collided, and the impact caused the cars to hit the pedestrian traffic signals on each corner. Both cars ended up on the sidewalk in front of J’s Place.

“The incident happened around 4:30 p.m.,” manager of J’s Place, Kristyn Abelar, said. “There wasn’t any damage to the building, just to the sidewalk and to the walk signals.”

Nicholasville Police Officer Kevin Grimes said the accident inflicted at least one minor injury.

“The State Department is currently in Nicholasville working on the walk signals right now,” Natalia McMillan of the Traffic Engineering Department from the State Highway Department said around noon on Wednesday.

The cost of repairing the signals is undetermined.
