Donald Grimes

Donald Ray Grimes, 73, husband of Connie Wiggs Grimes, passed Monday, Jan. 16, 2017. He was born Oct. 18, 1943 in Jessamine County to the late Dan Grimes and Russell Smith Jones. He was a native and lifelong resident of Wilmore, where he was the retired public works director for over twenty five years. Donald was a Kentucky Colonel who loved his three grandchildren, was an avid fisherman and UK basketball fan. He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Ray Grimes and is survived by his two daughters, Crystal Grimes (Joe) Harvey and Kimberly Grimes (Mark) Stewart; four grandchildren, Cordell Reed Stewart, Mason Grimes Harvey, Michael Reece Stewart and Ethan Stewart; two sisters, Tommye Davidson and Vela Walters; two brothers, Ralph Grimes and Bill Grimes; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie Smith and Mary Allen. Memorial service will be 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23 at Bethel Christian Church with Bro. Bill Bales officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. on Monday until time of service at the church.
