Construction to The Jessamine County Food Pantry that has been serving the community since 2003 is now completed.
The organization celebrated its grand re-opening on Jan. 3 as a “client choice” food pantry that is set-up as a grocery store.
The pantry — located at 104 South 2nd St. in Nicholasville — will now see more flexible hours, said Paul Huber, director of the Jessamine County Food Pantry. It will be open on Tuesdays noon to 3 p.m., Thursdays 4 to 7 p.m. and Fridays 9 p.m. to 12 p.m.
“We were open about 10 hours a month and now we will be open about nine hours a week,” Huber said.
Within the first week of its reopening, about 50 clients have already utilized the food pantry’s new hours. Huber said he hopes they will get into the 75 to 100 per week range.
