New Year’s drinks – hold the alcohol

For some, New Year’s consists of staying up late and counting down the ball with loved-ones. The midnight kiss is often associated with champagne, or just alcohol in general. But for those who don’t dabble in the bubbly  — or liquor in general — here are four non-alcohol drinks for those who wish to ring in the New Year a bit more sober.

Needed: 

2 cups of whipping cream

6 cups milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 (12 ounce) package white chocolate chips

Garnish: Whipped cream candy canes.

Directions:

Stir together the whipping cream, milk, vanilla, and white chocolate chips in a slow cooker.

.Cover and cook on low for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally, until mixture is hot and chocolate chips are melted. Stir again before serving. Garnish with whipped cream and candy canes, as desired.

Eggnog Coffee Punch

Needed: 

1 1/2 cups coffee ice cream

1 1/2 cups eggnog

1 cup hot strongly brewed coffee

4 tablespoons frozen whipped topping, thawed

4 pinches ground nutmeg

Directions:

Scoop the ice cream into a pan over low heat. Stir in the eggnog and coffee; and heat until warm, about 3 minutes. Pour into four glass or ceramic mugs. Top each with 1 tablespoon whipped topping and sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve immediately.

New Year’s Eve’s Punch

Needed: 

3 1/2 liters ginger ale

2 quarts orange juice

2 oranges, sliced into rounds

20 maraschino cherries

Directions:

In a large punch bowl mix ginger ale and orange juice. Place sliced oranges on top of punch and arrange the cherries on top of the orange slices.

Mock Champagne

Needed:

4 cups carbonated water, chilled

4 cups ginger ale

3 cups unsweetened white grape juice

Directions:

Chill club soda, ginger ale and grape juice overnight.

In a large pitcher combine club soda, ginger ale and grape juice. Serve immediately over ice.
