A proposal to make a few changes concerning the Jack Nicklaus-Signature Golf Course were made to the Wilmore City Council at a meeting Monday night.

Project Engineer Jihad Hallany with Vision Engineering  made the request for the Council to annex approximately eight acres of property on Murphy’s Lane belonging to Andrew and Betty Forbes. If the property is annexed into the City of Wilmore it will receive city municipalities such as water, sewer and trash pickup.

The Council approved the first reading of the annexation ordinance that finds the property contiguous to Wilmore’s existing boundaries and deems it suitable for urban development.

The Forbes’ gave consent in writing for the annexation of the property, allowing the city to bypass notification ordinance and the notice requirements.

The second reading of the annexation ordinance will occur at the next meeting at 6 p.m. on Nov. 21 at Wilmore City Hall.

The Council also accepted a zone change for .92 acres of the Forbes property to go from an A1 to R1, allowing three residential lots to be built on the specified acres. The rest of the eight acres will remain an agricultural zone.

Another Zone Map amendment that would adjust some of the location of residential and agricultural areas on the golf course was also up for approval.

The Council decided to take no action at this meeting for the amendment, and it will be discussed further at the next city council meeting beginning at 6 p.m. on Nov. 21.

Jessamine County Planning and Zoning Commission approved changes to the preliminary plat include the golf course going from 222 acres to 273, an athletic facility added on with the clubhouse and the addition of six holes par 3 for the golf course.

The residential units will change from 661 to 550, and instead of 433 single family homes and 228 townhouses, there will be 323 single family homes and 227 townhouses in their October meeting.
