Update: Traffic diverted due to fatal accident on US-27 South
A Nicholasville resident was involved in a fatal accident that occurred at the intersection of Elizabeth Street and US-27 on Sunday.
Cameron Pittman, 29, died at the scene after his silver passenger car struck as semi-truck turning left into a nearby gas station.
US-27 was shut down for a little over five hours on Sunday due to the accident.
The preliminary investigation showed the semi-truck had a green arrow to turn and the passenger car was at a red light.
“We believe at this time he ran a red light but we’re still looking into it,” Sgt. Scott Harvey with the Nicholasville Police Department said.
