Traffic diverted due to fatal accident on US-27 South
US-27 South in Nicholasville was closed Sunday, due to a fatal accident involving a passenger car and a semi-truck at the intersection of Elizabeth Street and US-27. Officials said the road will be closed for at least a few hours.
The man driving the passenger car heading south, died at the scene after hitting the semi-truck that was turning left into a nearby gas station, said Nicholasville Police. The man has not yet been identified.
Officials said the driver of the semi truck was uninjured.
Hazmat crews were called to help clean up fuel and other fluids that were spilled onto the road. As of 9:40 a.m. on Sunday, US-27 South remained closed.
