Nicholasville man indicted on child pornography charges

A Nicholasville man who has been arrested and charged with more than 100 felony counts of possessing child pornography was indicted last week. 

Daniel Rike, 34, of Nicholasville was arrested in September by the Jessamine County Sheriff’s office and charged with 100 counts of possession of a matter portraying sexual performance by a minor and one count of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, both of which are Class D felonies. 

On Nov. 21, Rike was indicted on both charges. 

Earlier this year, cyber-crime officials from the Attorney General’s Office investigated individuals who possessed and distributed child pornography as well as those who solicited minors for sex online.

Operation Shielded Child lasted 10 days and included the cyber-crime investigators, Kentucky State Police, Homeland Security Investigations and police departments in Georgetown, Frankfort, Lancaster, Nicholasville and Shelbyville.
