City Commission reinstates Planning and Zoning Director

At the regular Nicholasville City Commission Meeting on Monday, May 22, the Commission reinstated its Planning and Zoning Department Director, approved other new employees and also approved multiple ordinances.

Tim Cross was approved by the Commission to be reinstated as the Director of the Joint Planning and Zoning Department at the hourly rate of $58.91.

A municipal order was also approved by the Commission adding a new job description for the Planning and Zoning Department, administrative assistant.

It also approved a request to rehire a retired police officer at the Nicholasville Police Department in a temporary position.

 Ordinances that received the second and final readings

In other news, here is an ordinance from the evening’s session:

Ordinance 109-2023 amends the official zoning map for the city of Nicholasville from A-1 (County) agriculture to B-2 (City) highway business district for approximately 34.55 net acres (38.74 acres gross) and A-1 (County) Agriculture to A-1 (City) agriculture district for approximately 77.19 acres (71.76 acres gross) of property located on a portion of 4615 Nicholasville Road.ORDINANCE 110-2023: An ordinance amending the official zoning map for the city of Nicholasville from A-1 (County) agriculture to R-3 (City) multi-family residential district for approximately 18.170 net acres (19.41 acres gross) of property located on a portion of 4615 Nicholasville Road, PVA Parcel #066-00-00-001.00.

Ordinances that received their first reading 

The following ordinances were read for the first time and will have to be read again before they can be voted on at a future meeting:

Ordinance 111-2023 amends the city’s annual budget for the general government for the fiscal year 7-01-22 through 6-30-23 by estimating revenues and resources and appropriating funds for the operation of city government.

Ordinance 112-2023 amends Chapter 8 Fire Prevention and Protection, Article III; fire codes and standards relating to the Kentucky Division of Forestry and the forest service burn seasons. The ordinance came at the request of Nicholasville Fire Marshall Josh Bolton.
