Bennie Dean Hager, 86

On the morning of August 23,2022, Bennie Dean Hager passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Nicholasville Kentucky. He was 86 years old.

Bennie was born to Wille Ray and Pearl Jane Canter Hager in Jessamine County December 6, 1935 and he was raised in Little Hickman. He was proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers, Paul and Dickie Ray Hager. He was married to Patricia Sears and they raised two daughters, Elizabeth Jane Hager (Kennedy) and Connie Dean Hager(Corman/Banks). He had 7 grandchildren, Richard, Rachel, and Sarah Kennedy, Christopher and Mark Corman, Jacob and Rebecca Banks, and 5 great grandchildren whom he adored.

Bennie was employed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky State Parks System where he worked his way up from chef to serve as the Director of Food Services and retired after 36 years. He was president of the Kentucky Restaurant Association from 1989 to 1990. He also served on the Nicholasville Planning and Zoning Board for approximately 21 years, and served as Chairman of the Board for many of those years. He and his wife owned a local business, Nicholasville Mini Warehouses. He was a member of Jessamine Christian Church.

He loved spending his free time golfing, boating, fishing and listening to Elvis and Willie Nelson music. He was named to the Kentucky All State football team as a senior in high school was also a Wildcats fan.

There will be a reception style “Celebration of Life” to honor him on September 18, 2022 from 2-4 pm at Churchill Crossing Clubhouse in Nicholasville .
