Jessamine County Fair wraps up

The Jessamine County Fair wrapped up this weekend after a week full of exciting events, contests, and pageants. Attendance on Saturday night was record-breaking, with major events like the dairy show, the horse pull, the mud run, and the demolition derby.

“We had a wonderful turnout this year! The added barrel racing along with the hero and princess night were both successful. This added to our regular schedule made for a wonderful community event.” said Gerria Berryman of the Jessamine County Fair.

The Jessamine County Fair Pageant started on July 11th and went till July 14th. Ava Van Schaick won the Miss Jessamine County Fair pageant, second place went to Reaira Denny, and third place to Reese Burt, who also won the Prettiest Smile category. Caroline Robertson won the Prettiest Eyes. Nadia Marc won the Most Photogenic.
For the Miss Teen Jessamine County Fair, the winner is Aleah Stigall, Kiley Parker won second place, Shelby McQueary won third place, and Olivia Penrod won fourth place, as well as Most

Photogenic. Malorie Goldy won Prettiest Smile. Alexis Robertson won Prettiest Eyes.

Mia Simpkins won Miss Pre-Teen Jessamine County Fair. Second place went to Harlee Morgan, Kinley Tompkins won third place, and Audry Wilson won fourth place. Maddy Evans won Prettiest Eyes, Lillie Price won Prettiest smile, and Kinley Tompkins won Most Photogenic.

Outside of pageants, there were livestock shows in the livestock barn, magic shows by Mark Comley, dog shows, and much more.

For the horse pull, Trent and Roof Team of Rex and Rex won first place in the heavyweight division, as they pulled a load of 10,350 lbs for 20’6″. In the lightweight division, Hatfield and Yoder won first place with the team of Tango and Todd. Tango and Todd pulled an adjusted load of 10,350 lbs for 24’7″.

Other events hosted at the fair included a chasin’ cash barrel race, a greased pig contest, a picnic with Judge-Executive David West, and many others.
