Jessamine County residents can give blood later this month and, by doing so, will be entered into a drawing for a new car.

The Jessamine County Health Department will host a blood drive on July 19 from 9-11:30 a.m. at 210 East Walnut St. in Nicholasville.

The promotion is in conjunction with the Kentucky Blood Center (KBC), which is hosting a “Summer Getaway Giveaway,” where donors 18 years and older have the opportunity to win a 2022

Toyota RAV4. Donors will get an entry to win the prize with each donation at a KBC mobile drive or donor drive center until Sept. 10.

Blood supplies have been low across central Kentucky since the Covid-19 pandemic, but the demand for blood has not slowed down.

According to the KBC, donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, show photo identification, and meet additional requirements.
