Marilyn Willetta Perkins Lutz, 91, died June 16, 2022, at Wesley Village in Wilmore, Kentucky. Born July 4, 1930, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late Okley Alonzo Perkins and Amy Marie Chaffin Perkins. Her family moved to Missoula and then Butte, Montana, where she attended Butte High School for two years. She then moved to Nampa, Idaho, where she graduated from Northwest Nazarene Academy. She received her Registered Nurse certification from Samaritan Hospital and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa. She married Harland Richard Lutz on June 30, 1951, in Nampa. They have three sons: David Wayne (Amelia), Robley John (Cheryl), and Daniel Arthur. She served as a nurse for two years in Nashville, Tennessee, while her husband completed a master’s degree at the George Peabody College for Teachers. She then served as a nurse for three years in Chattanooga, Tennessee. After moving to Wilmore in 1957, she pursued two careers, first as a nurse, including a term as Director of the Asbury College Clinic, and then, after receiving a master’s degree from the University of Kentucky in 1982, as a counseling psychologist at Comp Care in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her son Daniel. She is survived by sister Sharan Perkins Porr, brother Rev. Harold Perkins (Debbi), two children, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Great Commission Fellowship in Wilmore at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 1, 2022, with Pastor Jason Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilmore Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Douglas Butler, Michael Lutz, Nicholas Lutz, Arvid Metcalf, Robert Olivam, and Paul Southgate. After the burial, a reception for family and friends will be held at the Great Commission Fellowship. Family will receive friends Friday from 12:00 to 2:00 at the church.
