Dorothy Dean Burton Reed, 87, widow of William Woods Reed, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Baptist Health Lexington, with her daughters Ruth and Catrina by her side. She was born in Jessamine County on January 18, 1935, to the late Homer Burton and Christine Walker Burton. As well as being a member of the Nicholasville Christian Church, she was a dedicated and life-long member of the Lions Club. She is survived by a son, William Reed, II, two daughters, Catrina Conway and Ruth Reed, four brothers, Kenneth Burton, Richard Burton (Elizabeth), Sam Burton (Christina), and Mark Burton (Linda), three sisters, June Steele (Jimmy), Brenda Meyer (Weller), and Ruth Slone (Ned), six grandchildren, John Meade, Rachel Reed, Caitlyn Conway, Hailee Miller, Steven Rowlett, and Ashley Rowlett, as well as five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, William, she is preceded by a son, John Howard Reed, and three siblings, Nullan Burton, Harold Burton, and Sylvia House. Services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 3, at Betts & West Funeral Home, with Reverend Katherine Redmond officiating. Burial will follow in Wilmore Cemetery. Casket bearers will be William Reed, II, Mark Burton, Jimmy C. Steele, Seth Slone, John David Meade, Robert Christopher Guy, and Tyler Burton. Honorary bearers will be June Steele, Brenda Meyer, Ruth Slone, and Christie Guy. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Wednesday, March 2, at Betts & West Funeral Home.
