West Jessamine Boys Basketball
In three games this week, the Colts were able to go 2-1 and improve their overall record to 16-11.

They’re undefeated in District play. After an 87-72 loss against a talented Woodford County team (22-5) in which Drew Marshall led with 25 points and 12 rebounds, they defeated rival East Jessamine (4-23) 79-59, and Wayne County (13-13) in a tough-fought 84-73 double overtime matchup. 25 points and 14 rebounds were added by Marshall in the former, while the latter showcased 23 points by Marshall and 11 rebounds from both Ashton Harris and Daniel Waters.

Before starting the District Tournament, the Colts end their regular season this week with matchups against Paul Laurence Dunbar (11-11) and Garrard County (13-14). Both teams offer respectable competition.

West Jessamine Girls Basketball
Getting back on track, the Lady Colts improved their record to 18-8 with a four-game winning streak against Lincoln County (9-18), Great Crossing (12-12), East Jessamine (12-12), and Boyle County (10-14).

A 60-59 win over the Lady Colts saw Claire Marshall score 19 points and Aaliyah Edenstrom have 12 rebounds, followed by Ariana McLoney’s 18 points and Kimberly Johnson’s 19 rebounds in an 80-71 takedown of the Rebels.

They defeated rival East Jessamine in a close 55-50 ballgame behind 17 points from both Marshall and Anaya Chestnut. Marshall and Edenstrom had 12 rebounds. Finally, during a 49- 37 conquest of Boyle County, three players (Chestnut, Marshall, and Johnson) each scored 12 points, while Edenstrom pulled down 10 rebounds.

The girls look to end their regular season on a high note this week with games against Burgin (6-17) and Washington County (10-15).

East Jessamine Boys Basketball
On Tuesday, the Jags (4-23) managed to end their losing streak with a convincing 54-35 win over Burgin. Keelyn Daniel led the way with both 16 points and 16 rebounds.

Afterward, in a 79-59 loss to West Jessamine (16-11), Hayden Frazier was on top of his game with 15 points, while Nicholas Thompson had 6 rebounds. They ended the week with a 68-45 loss to Boyle County (18-6) in which Myles Radford led with 10 points, and Turner Shouse had 10 rebounds.

This week, they’ll finish off the regular season with games against Montgomery County (10-14) and Danville (12-14). Each team looks to provide stiff competition.

East Jessamine Girls Basketball
Looking to improve upon their record, the Lady Jags (12-12) began this week with a 56-52 victory over Powell County (8-17) and a convincing 65-53 win over Bryan Station (11-10).

Their first match saw Jermyra Christian lead with 32 points and Iesha Dean had 10 rebounds, with 22 points point from Christian and 13 rebounds from Dean propelling the team forward in the latter matchup. A third contest against rival West Jessamine (16-11) ended in a tough-fought 55-50 defeat, though Christian scored 27 points and Dean had 9 rebounds.

The Lady Jags conclude their regular season with 4 games in 5 days against Williamstown (13-12), Great Crossing (12-12), Somerset (13-9), and Madison Central (10-12). With similar records, each of these games figure to be evenly matched.
