Luckie Lee McClintock, 79, of Lexington, Kentucky, Mitchellville, Maryland, and Greensboro, Georgia, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021, surrounded in love as he went to meet his Heavenly Father. Luckie was fortunate to find love twice in his lifetime with two women whom he deeply loved and who loved him deeply in return. Loved by his son and adored by his daughter and grandson, Luckie has left a legacy of love, kindness and generosity. A stranger to no one and a friend to many, Luckie enjoyed healthy banter and friendly conversation with his local “R.O.M.E.O.s” (Retired Old Men Eating Out), while playing on the golf course and with old and new friends alike. His door was always open and his hand always extended.

His care for his brothers and sisters in our world was never more evident than in his professional life as he joined the United Association (UA) of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Steamfitters, Sprinklerfitters and Service Technicians through Local 452 in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1966. Ensuring safe systems in our buildings and safe conditions for his brother and sisters, Luckie worked tirelessly for both over his 56 years serving in the UA. In 1976, Luckie was elected Business Manager of the UA Local Union 452 and held that position for over 14 years. During that time, Luckie also served as President of the Kentucky Pipe Trades for 13 years and served as President of the Central Kentucky Building Trades for 10 years in addition to serving as President of the Kentucky State Building Trades. In June 1990, Luckie was appointed Special Representative to the United Association and was assigned to the Department of Political and Legislative Affairs. He was elected International Representative effective January 1992. In January 1997, Luckie was elected Director of the Department of Political and Legislative Affairs, where he served until his retirement on December 31, 2008.

Aside from the obvious love for his family and friends, Luckie also had a passion for golf, the University of Kentucky Wildcats, a good movie, music of all genres and a hot chocolate chip cookie.
