Wilmore police warn of vehicle break-ins

Illegal entries into vehicles have been reported in the city of Wilmore.
According to Wilmore Chief of Police William Craig, two incidents have been reported directly to the police. Meanwhile, other incidents are being reported by Wilmore residents on social media.
Evidently, vehicles are targeted randomly, and these are vehicles that have been left unlocked. Stolen items tend to include any possessions or valuables left in the vehicle.
Craig advises that, while caution should be taken, vehicular break-ins are not uncommon during the holiday season.
“It’s not like a sudden up-tick in illegal entries,” said Craig. “The break-ins tend to happen to unlocked cars left in store parking lots while the owner is busy holiday shopping. If you look historically, this is just what tends to happen during this time of the year.”
The Wilmore Police Department asks that if you or someone you know has a vehicular break-in incident, to report it to the department at 859-858-3535 or in person at 210 South Lexington Avenue. Also, ensure that you remove all valuables and secure your vehicle to prevent any theft or pilferage.
