Margarete (Bauer) Centers of Nicholasville, Kentucky passed away at home on January 2, 2021 from complications related to her long bout with dementia.
She is predeceased by her parents Konrad and Anna (Seybold) Bauer and brother Georg (Getraud) Bauer, all of her native country, Germany.
She is survived by her husband of over 38 years, Stafford Centers, and son Wayne Conrad (Hannah) Centers.
She is the stepmother of Richard Centers (Manchester, KY).
She is also survived by two sisters Gunda (Oskar) Lang and Pauline (Gunther) Wolf of Germany.
She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews on two continents, as well as two grandchildren, Brayden and Coty.
Marga was born on April 21, 1949 in the village of Hetzendorf (Betzenstein) located in the Bavarian region of Germany.
She graduated Staatliche Berufsschule Pegnitz in 1967 and would later move to the United States where she earned citizenship in 1979.
A long-time resident of London, KY, she prided herself on being a hard-working employee of the former Thermodisc (Micro Devices) for over 27 years as well as the Circuit Court Clerk office of Laurel County.
In 2008, she moved to Nicholasville, KY and was a member of Brookside Baptist Church.
Beyond tremendous pride in her family and work, she enjoyed traveling back to Germany (especially in her later years), entertaining cherished friends, spoiling her pets, knitting and crocheting, and baking the greatest cakes this world has ever known.
A Remembrance Service will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 8, 2021 at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home, with her family greeting friends beginning at 9:00 AM until time of service.
Marga will be laid to rest at Camp Nelson National Cemetery Friday at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donations to Hospice of the Bluegrass or committing an act of kindness in Marga’s name.

In keeping with CDC guidelines, visitors must observe social distancing and wear masks at the funeral home and cemetery.
Marga’s Service will be live-streamed on the Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home Face Book page and YouTube channel.
If you are unable to attend Marga’s service, call the Funeral Home (859-885-4125) to reserve a white silk rose to be placed at the Service with your name and given to the family at the conclusion of the Service.
