Nicholasville man jailed following burglary, assault on officers

Police said a Nicholasville man broke into a residence and strangled a person before injuring two officers during the arrest process.

According to Nicholasville Police, officers were called to a residence on Beauford Place at 2:08 a.m. Dec. 10.

The victim said 50-year-old James F. Roberts forced his way into the apartment and started attacking them.

At one point. Roberts allegedly put his hands around the person’s neck and applied pressure.

When officers arrived, Roberts was outside the residence. Roberts, though, allegedly kicked one officer in the knee and gave another two lacerations to her hand. Officers eventually arrested Roberts and transported him to the Jessamine County Detention Center, where he continued to resist until being placed in a restraint chair, police said.

Roberts, of Beauford Place, was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree strangulation, resisting arrest and third-degree assault.
