M.R. Bishop DMD and Associates recently announced that it will add online donation capabilities to its 2020 annual Share a Smile Holiday Food Drive.

Now in its sixth year, the food drive is an effort to not only provide Jessamine County families in need with traditional holiday foods such as fresh turkeys and the “fixings” for a Thanksgiving meal, but also enough food staples to get them through the holiday season.

“Dr. Bishop and I created the Share a Smile Holiday Food Drive in 2014, because we wanted to give Jessamine County’s families in need a reason to smile — especially during the holiday season,” food drive organizer and M.R. Bishop DMD and Associates Office Manager Terri Fischer-Ware said. “We’re determined to make this year’s food drive better and bigger than ever before.

“Last year, our wonderful patients, families and friends helped us fill the pantries of approximately 700 families in need.”

This year, the office has added a ‘donate here’ button to www.drmikebishop.com.

“We’ve made it easy for everyone — even those who are staying home as much as possible during the pandemic — to share smiles and help others through their donations,” Fischer-Ware said.

The Kentucky Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (KCOM) will once again be a supporting sponsor for the food drive, and in addition to online donations, the food drive will continue to accept canned and dried goods, plus checks and cash donations, at two Nicholasville locations:

— Offices of M.R. Bishop DMD and Associates, 409 Etter Drive

— Kentucky Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 203 Fairfield Drive.

Although the Food Drive doesn’t officially start until Sept. 21, donations have already begun to pour in.

“KCOM, and our patients, families and friends are just as determined to help Jessamine County families as we are,” Fischer-Ware said.
