Local teen Katelyn Scales and her horse, Toots Surprise Gal, took on the 2020 NBHA Youth World Championships in Perry, Georgia, at the Georgia National Fairgrounds. Katelyn and her family travel all around the world to compete and qualify for events like this. She will also be competing at the NBHA Illinois State Championship in October, which she qualified for this year. Katelyn is a senior at West Jessamine High School and will be serving as the 2020-21 Jessamine County FFA vice-president. She is also an active 4-H member as well as in her school’s Student Senate and National Honor Society. (Photos submitted)
