Lexington man charged after pursuit

A Lexington man is facing multiple charges after he led police on a brief pursuit outside Walmart.

According to court documents, 32-year-old Aaron Henry Rodgers was arrested April 12 by Nicholasville Police.

In the arrest citations, officers said they stopped a vehicle for no tail lights on North Main Street. The vehicle pulled into the Walmart parking lot and stopped. After officers make contact with the driver, the vehicle sped away.

The driver got out of the vehicle near the grocery entrance and fled on foot while the vehicle continued rolling until it hit a pole.

Officers later found Rodgers hiding between parked cars on Platt Drive, where he admitted to being intoxicated.

When officers searched the vehicle, they found about a pound of marijuana, 12 grams of suspected cocaine and 29 OxyContin pills, along with two sets of scales, plastic bags, rolling papers and a handgun.

Rodgers was arrested and charged with no tail lamps, first-degree fleeing or evading police (two counts), driving under the influence, trafficking in marijuana, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
