HARLES ‘SID’ EAST: July 12, 1932 to Feb. 6, 2020

A limb has fallen from the East family tree. Charles “Sid” East, 87, entered into eternal rest Thursday, Feb. 6, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Sid is a native of Nicholasville, Ky and one of 7 children born to the late Curtis and Miranda Davis East.

He was owner and operator of East Service Station formerly located on Main Street.

He was a member of Nicholasville Christian Church, a veteran of the US Army, a member of the Beef Cattle Association and a Kentucky Colonel.

He was an avid basketball fan, having played during his high school years and was named Allstate player, which spurred him to be a fan of UK Basketball of which he attended on a regular basis.

He will be fondly remembered by his devoted wife of 64 years Mary Jane Walton East, son Randy East and wife Patty, daughter Sidney Lynn Coleman and husband Byron, grandchildren Troy Coleman, wife Kim, Maranda Rosen, husband Brian, Chase Coleman, wife Brittany, and great grand children Evelyn and Beckham Coleman.

Childhood memories will be cherished by his brothers Roland “Rock” East and Thompson “Tom” East, as well as his long time friend Leedale Stinnett.

He was preceded in death by brothers Elwood, Paul, Booster, and Alexander East.

A Remembrance Service were held 11:00 AM Monday, Feb. 10, at Hager & Cundiff Funeral Home.

He was laid to rest in Camp Nelson National Cemetery with military honors following the service.

Honoring him as pallbearers were Troy Coleman, Chase Coleman, Brian Rosen, Josh Banks, Jay Banks Mitch Houp,, and Willie Reed. Honorary bearers were Doug Downing, Howard Downing, Richard Collins, Lawrence Riley, Leedale Stinnett, Don Gabbard, Larry Garrett, Ron Shearer, Billy Poor, Johnny Davis, and Jeff Barnett.

The family greeted friends on Sunday, Feb 9, starting at 1:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM.

The family suggests donations be made in his memory to Bluegrass Care Navigators or Nicholasville Christian Church.

“Grieve not for me, remember the good times, the laughter, the life I lived while I was strong, and continue my heritage and traditions no matter how small.”
