Nicholasville woman charged with two thefts

Police charged a woman with allegedly stealing about $100 in merchandise from a pair of stores in the same day.

Bethany J. Slone, 37, of 424 Hartley Drive, was arrested Jan. 15 by Nicholasville Police and charged with two counts of theft by unlawful taking.

According to arrest citations, employees at Dollar General and Bargain Hunt both saw Slone leave their respective stores without paying for merchandise. Officers spotted Slone near Tire Discounters with several Bargain Hunt bags with $76 in items including socks, batteries, shirts and an LED light.

She also admitted to taking several items from Dollar General, which were in the bags as well. Those items included $26 worth of cleaners, soap and trash bags.
