More faces at The Jessamine Journal means more news for readers.

Veteran editor and newspaper leader Whitney Leggett will take over for outgoing editor Brittany Fuller, who left to pursue other opportunities. Leggett serves in the same role with The Winchester Sun and Bluegrass Newsmedia.

The Journal will maintain its office at 507 N. Main St. and have as consistent hours as possible.  For issues involving newspaper subscriptions, newspaper delivery or classified ads, customer service is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday by calling 885-5381 or emailing customerservice@jessaminejournal.com.

“Our goal is to remain the best source of local news and advertising in Jessamine County as we have been for more than 150 years,” said publisher Mike Caldwell. “This is another positive step in the right direction. Brittany has done a good job over the past two years and Whitney and the team will absolutely build on that.”

“These changes will allow for more local news, more sports, more information our readers need and more stories about the amazing things going on there. We will continue to grow our print presence, magazine publications and digital content.”

Leggett will be joined by longtime journalists Fred Petke and Randy Patrick. Both bring decades of community journalism experience to the table. Patrick served as editor at the Journal from 1995 to 2005 and knows the community well.

Derek Brightwell will continue as sports editor with help from The Sun’s sports editor Roman West.

Lana Johnson will continue her role as advertising director and marketing expert in the community.
