Over 830 high school juniors from 55 high schools in Central Kentucky are being recognized in this year’s Youth Salute. The Jessamine Journal will highlight local students over the course of the next three weeks who were recognized in this year’s Youth Salute.
From West Jessamine High School, the following students were recognized.
Alyssa Crum, who plans to major in nursing with the hopes of working in the neonatal intensive care unit. Her accomplishments include Jessamine Christian Church youth leader and vocal team leader, West Jessamine Dance team, East Jessamine High honor roll, East Jessamine chorale, KET early childhood volunteer, Southland Christian Church Access Ministries and Bluegrass Christian Camp photographer and counselor in training.
Andrew Seamands, who plans to major in history with the hope of becoming a teacher. His accomplishments include junior class president, cross country team, swim team, track team, National Honors Society, fellowship Christian athletes, YMCA lifeguard, sophomore class president, Kentucky Youth Assembly and First Alliance Church youth group.
Cassidy Napier who plans to major in agriculture with the hope of attending Eastern Kentucky University or University of Kentucky. Her accomplishments include Jessamine County 4-H: council community service committee chairman, Jessamine County FFA: reporter, growing leaders committee member, building communities committee member, strengthening agriculture committee member, Jessamine County 4-H teen council member, Youth Leadership Jessamine County member, Bluegrass Region FFA officer delegate, National FFA talent contestant and Jessamine County FFA Thanksgiving food drive committee member
Grayson Crockett plans to attend college and earn a master’s degree. His accomplishments include varsity cross country, varsity baseball, Bluegrass Ultimate, Colt Nation newspaper, FCA, Youthworks mission 2017, yearbook 2017-2018, elected to student senate 2017-2018, 4.3 GPA and he is currently employed at Chick Fil-A.
Holly Grace Hamilton plans to study education and global studies at a Christian college. Her accomplishments include National Honors Society, FCA leadership team, BETA Club, cross country and swim team, mentor for the Big Brother/Big Sister program and early childhood education award. She is pursuing the CCC and CDA credential, plays the guitar, piano and flute and attends youth group at Wilmore Free Methodist Church.
From East Jessamine High School, the following students were recognized.
Ama Boateng plans to major in psychology and hopes to become a certified doctor. Her accomplishments include corale, bella voce, theatre, Beta club, book club, Youth Leadership Jessamine County, Jessamine County Animal Care and Control member, Jessamine County food pantry member, Pentecost youth leader and class prefect leader.
Belleigh Adkins whose accomplishments include cheerleading, 4-H Teen Council treasurer, Youth Leadership Jessamine County, junior class president, Warner Elementary student mentor, Beta Club, Southland Christian Church youth group, National Honors Society, HYPE Club and 4-H Teen Council.
Brayden Drinkard plans to major in video game design and work for AAA Video Game Company. His accomplishments include marching band section leader, band section leader, ESports member, recipient of best sophomore marcher, volunteer at vacation bible school and he is an active member of Southland youth.
Courtney Lockett plans to major in culinary with the hopes of attending culinary school at Sullivan University. Her accomplishments include Senate page for Sen. Tom Buford, Jessamine County culinary team captain, Kentucky Prostart team member, Kentucky representative at National Prostart Invitational, Dance Attack varsity captain, cheerleader, Feeding America advocate, Alzheimer’s Association advocate, Belmont Village volunteer and Republican Party of Jessamine County volunteer.
Regan Moore is a Jessamine County homeschool student who was also recognized. Moore plans to attend EKU to receive a bachelor of science in American sign-language. Her accomplishments include student leadership council at Christian Homeschool of the Commonwealth. TeemPact Leadership Schools – state class, endeavor, National Convention and back to D.C., Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership, appointed Commonwealth Ambassador by the Kentucky Secretary of the State, Bluegrass United Performing Arts Center, Beta Club, yearbook staff, Pi ultimate frisbee and Bluegrass United girls’ basketball.
