At Asbury University, students can get a taste of the University’s rich culture of academic excellence and spiritual vitality before they even step foot on campus as freshmen.

Asbury provides a high-quality learning experience not only for traditional undergraduate students, but also for high school juniors and seniors.

Through Asbury Academy, high school students can get a head start on their college careers.

The dual enrollment program allows high schoolers to choose from more than 80 classes (100- and 200-level) to take on campus.

Asbury Academy is the perfect fit for both homeschooled students and those who are in search of an academic challenge.

The Academy is also a way for future Asburians to earn scholarship dollars. Students who take 12 hours of dual enrollment credit and earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 are awarded a $1,500 Academy Scholars scholarship, equaling

According to Academy Coordinator and Undergraduate Admissions Counselor Danielle Miller, the Academy program has grown tremendously in recent years, and application deadlines have been implemented as a result.

“The fall semester deadline is July 1 and the spring semester deadline is Dec. 1,” Miller said. “This is to allow ample time to schedule students before classes fill up. We encourage students to apply and register early.”

Miller also notes how, in addition to helping prepare students for college, the program directly affects their high school careers as well.

“Asbury Academy provides high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit while they are still in high school,” Miller said. “Students can take classes that count both for their high school credits and for college credits.”

High school seniors can take four credit hours on campus during the fall and spring semesters for no tuition charge.

They can also take up to 15 credit hours in additional classes during each of these semesters at a reduced tuition rate of $149 per credit hour.

Juniors may also take on-campus classes at a tuition rate of $149 per credit hour.

In addition to on-campus class offerings, Academy students can choose from an array of online courses. These courses are condensed into eight weeks and are reserved for academically disciplined students due to their rigorous, concentrated nature.

Semesters at Asbury are 16 weeks long, so students may take up to two consecutive online courses per semester.

Online courses are also offered at a rate of $149 per credit hour.

“We have aligned our Asbury Academy tuition rate to the same cost for online and on campus classes starting with Fall 2019,” Miller said. “The cost is more than an 80 percent discount from the regular tuition rate. I am really excited for this change as I know it will provide the opportunity for more students to attend the program.”

While the application deadline for the Fall 2019 semester has passed, students can consider applying for the Spring 2020 semester.

The priority registration application deadline is Nov. 1 with a final application deadline of Dec. 1.
