County to get sliver of fed road funds: The Lexington Metropolitan Planning Organization would receive $7.85 million from President Obama’s federal stimulus package for transportation infrastructure, and based on population, Jessamine County would receive 13 percent of that total.
Widening of U.S. 68 50 percent complete: Summer 2010 was the estimated time of completion for the widening of U.S. 68, which at this point was nearly halfway complete.
Wilmore to debut Gospel on the Green: Friday night series Gospel on the Green was going to debut and feature gospel singers from all over the country.

20 years ago: June 3, 1999

Ground breaking held for Wilmore school: The prior Thursday, there was a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Wilmore Elementary School.
East Middle gets strict dress code: East Jessamine Middle School had implemented a controversial dress code policy for the upcoming school year, which involved having the students wear uniforms.
School board outlines new safety measures: The Jessamine County Board of Education addressed safety concerns, and the curriculum director outlined safety measures that would be implemented in the upcoming school year, including metal detectors for schools, training sessions for police and school officials, a telephone hotline for students and a program to identify students who had violent tendencies.
Teachers honor one of their own: Janie Wiley, a resident of Wilmore who had been teaching for 68 years, was honored at a faculty meeting at East Jessamine High School the prior Monday.

30 years ago: June 1, 1989

Three named Jessamine teacher of the year; to be considered for state award: Three Jessamine County teachers were selected to represent local districts as teachers of the year in a state competition: Virginia Simpson, Linda Reilly and Gary Holobeck.
Jessamine track coach Martin named Region 6 Coach of Year: Jessamine County High School coach Gary Martin was named Region 6 Coach of the Year by the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association.

40 years ago: June 7, 1979

Tennessee woodsmen build dream house in county: hand-hewed log cabin: Becky Cox, who loved old cabins, dreamt of building one in Jessamine County. She found her dream cabin in Tennessee, which was owned by wood artisan Billy B. Newton, and the two struck up a deal to build a similar cabin in Jessamine County for Cox.
Court recommends park board stop private tournaments in public park: The Jessamine County Fiscal Court voted unanimously Tuesday to stop privately sponsored tournaments held at City-County Park.
Jessamine County 4-H Style Show winners: A Jessamine County 4-H Style Show was held the prior Friday, with 85 girls completing garments for it. Winners would be representing Jessamine County at the State Style Show during 4-H week.

50 years ago: June 5, 1969

New Nicholasville rest home complex under construction: A rest home complex located on 2nd street had been under construction since early May and would be a 16-patient room, 7600-square-foot complex.
Wilmore City Council presents station proposal: On Monday, Wilmore City Council voted unanimously to offer Asbury College an offer for property on East Main St. The city agreed to give the City Government Building and $5,000 toward the purchase of property next to L and S Clothing Store, which could be made into a fire station.
Development director to take position: Andrew F. Gallman from Mississippi was to take over as Asbury College development director within the month.
