Lexington woman arrested for methamphetamine
Elizabeth Ashley Mitchell, 32, of 1019 Della Drive in Lexington, was arrested May 23 for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating on a suspended or revoked license, according to a citation released by the Nicholasville Police Department.
Officers observed Mitchell operating a vehicle with expired registration plates. Officers were also able to confirm the vehicle was not insured and Mitchell’s license was suspended.
Mitchell allegedly told officers she had consumed alcohol two hours prior to being stopped. A field sobriety test was performed which Mitchell failed.
A search of the driver’s compartment was conducted and resulted in the confiscation of two clear bags, one containing a crystal substance and the other residual. A straw with powdered residue was recovered from the bag as well.
Two open containers of Jose Cuervo and Jim Beam were recovered from the backseat of the vehicle, according to the citation.
After being questioned about the objects, Mitchell allegedly advised officers she had not used the handbag in a long time, although the handbag was observed in her lap prior to exiting the vehicle.
Mitchell was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.
