Jessamine County Fiscal Court open house

Jessamine County Fiscal Court will have an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 at the blue building at City/County Park located at 400 Park Drive in Nicholasville.  Jessamine County supervisors will be available to discuss current and future capital and operational improvement needs.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Jessamine County School Health and Wellness forum

Jessamine County Schools will have a public forum for health and wellness from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28. The event will be at the central office building located at 871 Wilmore Road. Any resident interested in discussing the health and wellness policies and participating in discussion about current and future practices is encouraged to attend.

Barr hosts meetings in county

U.S. Rep. Andy Barr’s field staff will have office hours from 3 to 4 p.m. on the third Friday of every month at the Jessamine County Courthouse, located at 101 N. Main St. Meetings are held on a first come first serve basis. For more information call 859-219-1366.

Free lunch offered by CACFP

When school is not in session, the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) wants to make sure every Jessamine County student is offered a lunch. Lunch is available to anyone 18 and younger at Nicholasville Elementary from 11:30 a.m. to noon on Presidents Day Feb. 18; spring break April 1-5 and primary election day May 21.

AARP Tax-Aide offered at JCPL

The Jessamine County library will serve as the host site for the AARP Tax-Aide program.  IRS trained and certified volunteers will be available from 9 to 11:30 a.m. every Monday and Wednesday, beginning Feb. 4 and ending April 10 to assist low to moderate income taxpayers, especially those 60 and older to prepare their tax return and answer tax related questions.  Those wishing for assistance must bring social security cards and photo identification for themselves and their dependents.  In addition, all forms related to income and deductions such as W-2, health insurance, unemployment compensation statements, all 1099 forms, child care information, receipts or canceled checks if itemizing deductions and any other relevant information should be brought.  A copy of last year’s return is a must.  Taxpayers are encouraged to arrive before 11:30 on each day of service.  Questions should be directed to the tax-aide foundation at 1-888-227-7669.

Military veterans wanted

Jessamine DUI offers education program

The Jessamine DUI and Substance Abuse Program offers a 20-hour education program weekly from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. An out-patient program is offered Mondays at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Assessments are by appointment only. Attendees must have a court AOC form, citation and conviction date prior to appointment. Well Nutrition hosts Body Recall

Carolyn Walter will teach her exercise class “Body Recall,” from 2 to 3 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday at The Well Nutrition, located at 123 Orchard Drive. Exercises are done in a chair and with a chair and are helpful to regain strength, mobility, flexibility. coordination and posture awareness for patients who have suffered from strokes, joint replacement, heart, arthritis and Parkinson’s disease. Exercises also help with self-image and attitude about one’s self and wellbeing, as well as falls and recovery and ways to get up and down from the floor.  All are welcome.
