“It will be a wonderful afternoon with fabulous performances and delicious food,” Organizer Anna Kenion said. “We will use music, dance and inspirational speakers to remind participants that through all divisions, uneasiness and uncertainties, we can still have hope for a better tomorrow and work together in a positive way.”

Immediately after the Black History Celebration, JCPL will offer interested parties the opportunity to participate in the “Locust Grove Oral History Project,” the creation of an audio tour of Locust Grove Cemetery by recording and preserving stories about friends, relatives and community members buried there.

As always, organizers encourage participants to plan to come and go as they would like during the event.

“Whether attendees can come for just a few minutes to enjoy one or two of the presentations or performances, stay for the full Black History Month Celebration or simply stop in to participate in the Locust Grove Oral History Project, we have a wonderful time planned,” Kenion said.

Lunch will be served during the event. Sponsors include the Office of the Judge-Executive David K. West, the Jessamine County Fiscal Court, the Jessamine County Public Library and the CARE council.
