Make no mistake, the New Year waits for no one

How quick the holiday season passes us by. We wait all year long to set up for one of the arguably most anticipated holidays of the year. With dedication, we trim our trees, set up lights and wrap presents — but in the blink of an eye the Christmas holiday comes and goes and we set our sights on New Year’s celebrations.

My wish is to make this year one of the best The Jessamine Journal has ever seen.

I am hopeful to fit as much news as I can on local businesses, organizations, residents, students and public meetings into your local newspaper. With your help, we can fill the pages of The Jessamine Journal highlighting all the important things about Jessamine County.

Some important upcoming items to remember is our Unsung Heroes submissions. A yearly tradition here at the newspaper, we ask for your help in honoring and celebrating local residents who have gone above and beyond in the call of duty.

With your cooperation, you can help in identifying and highlighting local people whose love and support has in some way helped their families of the community they live in. Deadlines for submissions is Jan. 18, and those who are nominated will be part of our yearly business directory, Thrive.

Speaking of our business directory, if you are a local business who needs to update their current contact information, or if you are new to the business scene in Jessamine County please make sure and contact us to help us provide residents with the most up to date contact information in our list of local businesses.

Our goal is to help readers find the best Jessamine County business to fit their needs, and making sure we have the correct information for address and phone numbers will help readers find you and help big and small businesses in Jessamine County achieve their customer goals.

Throughout 2019 we will continue publishing our Jessamine Life magazine quarterly. With the next edition due out in February, our hope is that residents will continue to give us feedback and help us find local people, places and things to highlight.

We have seen a lot of positive feedback with our last several issues, and my hope is that together we can make the magazine bigger and better in the new year.

Currently, we are also looking for local businesses who may be achieving a milestone in the new year to highlight in one of our weekly editions. If you are that business, or know of someone who owns a local business, please email or stop by the office and share the news.

As Jan. 1 approaches, most of us are determined to start the new year off strong.

With a list of resolutions, personal goals or reflections of achievements from the year now behind us — my hope is that we will continue to work together in the new year to make The Jessamine Journal the best place for residents to get their local news.

I hope all our readers had a blessed Christmas, and I look forward to our time together in the year ahead.

Happy 2019 Jessamine County.
