Cash Express hosts toy drive event

The Jessamine County Historical Society will host a book sale through the month of November from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday located at 216 N. Main St.

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child announced its upcoming city-wide effort to collect gifts for children around the world, whick started Monday. Multiple locations throughout Nicholasville will open to collect shoebox gifts filled with fun toys, school supplies and hygiene items for the Samaritan’s Purse project.

During the project’s National Collection Week, Nov. 12-19, shoeboxes can be dropped off between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nicholasville volunteers hope to collect more than 20,222 gifts to contribute to Operation Christmas Child’s 2018 goal of reaching 11 million children in need.

Items can be dropped off at Wilmore Free Methodist Church, located at 1200 Lexington Road in Wilmore. For more information contact Dana Williams at dmwilliams@samaritan.org

Military honors ceremony

A military honors ceremony will be at 6 p.m. today at Edgewood Baptist Church, located at 717 S. Main St. Pastor Samuel Schmidt will welcome everyone followed by a military prayer by Chaplain DeWayne Brewer. For more information, call 859-621-9872.

Jessamine DUI offers education program

The Jessamine DUI and Substance Abuse Program offers a 20-hour education program weekly from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. An out-patient program is offered Mondays at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Assessments are by appointment only. Attendees must have a court AOC form, citation and conviction date prior to appointment. Well nutrition hosts Body Recall
