Roy Ruford Ratliff

Roy Ruford Ratliff, 78 of Nicholasville, Kentucky departed this life Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018.

He was a son of the late Corsey and Nannie Watkins Ratliff born in Hazel Green, Kentucky on March 20, 1940.

He was a farmer by trade.

He is survived by his fiancee, Marlene Peel of Nicholasville, Kentucky; three sons, Greg Ratliff (Lawanna) of Olympia, Kentucky, Greenville Ratliff (Connie) of Georgetown, Kentucky & Gary Ratliff of Hazel Green, Kentucky; five daughters, Cappie Gail Brown (Jimmy) of Georgetown, Kentucky, Royetta Snowden (Jimmy) of Irvine, Kentucky, Melanie Hall (Steve) of Sharpsburg, Kentucky, Jennifer Nickell of Daysboro, Kentucky & Sandra Ross (William) of Hazel Green, Kentucky; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, & five sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother & two sisters.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at Porter & Son Funeral Directors, Campton, Kentucky with Bro. Larry Shoemaker officiating. Burial followed in the Hazel Green Cemetery, Hazel Green, Kentucky.

Porter & Son Funeral Directors of Campton, Kentucky were in charge of arrangements.

Robert Duane Sewell

Nov. 5, 1940 – Oct. 15, 2018

Robert Duane Sewell, 77, husband of Mary Margaret Deiter Sewell, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2018.

He was born in Bloomdale, Ohio on Nov. 5, 1940 to the late Earl Cecil and Helen Leota Cline Sewell.

Mr. Sewell was a stallion manager for Almahurst Farm, a night watchman for Overbrook Farm and retired as night watchman at Lane’s End Farm.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Dean (Peggy) Sewell, Nicholasville and David Sewell, Lancaster; his granddaughters, Heather (Jake) Gardner and Emily Ann Sewell Messner; and four great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Sewell and Jim Sewell.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Donna Shewmaker

Donna Shewmaker, 80 years old, passed away Oct. 6, 2018. She is survived by her four children, Donna Beaty, Tracy Shewmaker, Jerri Moore and David Shewmaker, seven grandchildren, Tevis Beaty, Ashton Flanery, Katherine Moore, Marlee Moore, Hannah Moore, Brianna Shewmaker and Kris Shewmaker and one great grandson, Clayton Beaty. The family will hold a celebration of her life at a later date.

Dorothy Ann Crawford

Aug. 2,1941 – Oct. 13, 2018

Dorothy Crawford of Wilmore passed away in her home surrounded by family on Oct. 13, 2018. Surviving her are two children, Robert (Joy), Julie (Jim), 5 grandchildren, Danielle (Jenn), Elizabeth, Anthony, Kaye & Grace, great-grandchild Kyle, and five siblings.
