Lexington man arrested for methamphetamine

David J. Harris, 37, of 277 Sherman Ave. in Lexington, was arrested by the Nicholasville Police Department Aug. 8 for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the citation, Harris was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for no turn signal. A canine was used for a free air sniff around the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded 64.5 2 mg Xanax, 11 2 mg Alprazolam, two .5 mg Clonazepam, one 8 mg buprenorphine hydrochlorine and approximately .2 mg of suspected methamphetamine.

All pills were located inside two blue pill containers inside Harris’ boot. 

The suspected methamphetamine and digital scales were located inside a backpack that contained male clothing sitting next to Harris.

Harris was also in possession of $1,245. Harris was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.

Nicholasville man arrested for public intoxication

Larry S. Hutson, 39, of 212 Twin Acres Road in Nicholasville, was arrested by the Nicholasville Police Department Aug. 13 for public intoxication.

According to the citation, officers were dispatched to Lynnwood Drive concerning a man who had fled on foot. Hutson was located near a tree line on Williams Road.

Hutson was described as fidgety and unable to sit still. He allegedly had pin-point pupils and was using short sporadic sentences, according to the citation.

Hutson allegedly told officers he had used methamphetamine two days prior. Hutson was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center.

Woman arrested for methamphetamine

Brittney Roberts, 29, address unknown, was arrested by Nicholasville police Aug. 6 for public intoxication (excluding alcohol), possession of drug paraphernalia and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

According to the citation, officers were called to the area of Circle K on Edgewood Drive concerning drug activity involving two subjects.

Officers made contact with Roberts, who was described as unsteady on her feet, having slurred speech and not in control of her own body to the point she could not put together clear and complete sentences.

Roberts allegedly told officers she had taken methamphetamine a day earlier. Upon searching Roberts’ property, a syringe was located in her bag that allegedly contained methamphetamine. Two empty syringes were stored in the same location along with a kit for processing.

Roberts was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center.

Nicholasville man arrested for heroin

James C. Gill, 40, of 199 Leedean Circle in Nicholasville, was arrested Aug. 7 by Nicholasville police for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (heroin), possession of drug paraphernalia and no operators moped license.

Gill was operating a vehicle with a suspended license and had a warrant for his arrest. 

While searching, officers found a glass pipe in his pocket. A canine was then used to sniff around the vehicle. The search resulted in a bag of brown powdery substance that was in Gill’s right front pocket believed to be heroin.

Gill was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center.

Nicholasville man arrested for marijuana

Justin A. Birchum, 26, of 81 Cool Breeze Drive in Nicholasville, was arrested Aug. 10 by Nicholasville police for trafficking in marijuana.

According to the citation, police made contact with Birchum, who was known to have several warrants for his arrest in Jessamine and Fayette counties. Birchum allegedly told officers he had a pound of marijuana in the vehicle. Upon search, a pound of marijuana was found.

Birchum was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center.

Danville man arrested for DUI

Barry Wayne Bell, 62, of 413 N. Fourth St. in Danville, was arrested by Nicholasville police Aug. 11 for DUI, driving on a DUI-suspended license, third-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified) and prescription substance not in proper container.

After contacting Bell, he allegedly told officers he was not the owner of the vehicle he was driving, although he was, according to the citation.

Bell was described as having glassy eyes. He also failed a field sobriety test.

A search resulted in two round yellow pills in Bell’s shirt pocket marked Teva 3926, 5 mg. Bell told officers it was Valium and the pills were a prescription.

Bell was transported to St. Joseph Jessamine where he refused to submit to a blood test. He was then transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center.

— Taylor Reid McKinney, 20, of 4004 Hillside Drive in Lexington, was arrested for operating on a suspended or revoked license, speeding 20 mph over the limit and reckless driving.

— Melinda Figg, 26, of 1015 Shanty Hill in Wilmore, was arrested for failure to pay.

— Hunter B. Wells, 18, of 103 Ross St. in Nicholasville, was arrested for trafficking in marijuana.

— Carolyn Owens, 33, of 506 N. Lexington Ave. in Wilmore, was arrested for fourth-degree assault.

— Corey W. Barnett, 43, of 148 E. Lowry St. in Leander, was arrested Aug. 6 for failure to appear.

— Shannon Powell, 38, of 121 Lincoln St. in Nicholasville, was arrested Aug. 6 for trafficking in a controlled substance (heroin).

— John Timothy Hisle, 52, of 210 Foxwood Drive in Nicholasville, was arrested Aug. 6 for violation of a Kentucky emergency protection order.

— Timothy Young, 54, of 360 West London Ave. in Lexington, was arrested Aug. 7 for failure to appear.

— John Hisle, 52, of 210 Foxwood Drive in Nicholasville, was arrested Aug. 7 for failure to pay.
