Dorothy Dozier

Nov. 2, 1925 – July 30, 2018

Dorothy Earl Conley Dozier, 92, died Monday, July 30, 2018 in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born in Franklin County, Kentucky near Peaks Mill on Nov. 2, 1925, to the late P.H. Conley and Pearl Birchfield Conley.

Dorothy attended Peaks Mill School, grades 1-12 and graduated in 1944 and attended Eastern Kentucky University for two years. She married Claude Russell Dozier from Harlan County while they were both at Eastern and had 55 wonderful years before his death in 2001. She taught for 11 years before earning a B.A. degree from Union College by attending Saturday classes and taking correspondence courses before graduating in 1963.

She taught for 15 years at Evarts Elementary in Harlan County before moving to Seminole, Florida where she worked for 14 years at Lawton Elementary before retiring in 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Claudia Dozier Smith and her husband Dennis Smith; two grandsons, Claude (Toni) Michael Smith and Bradley Hampton Smith; three great-grandsons, Samuel Smith, Trey Smith and Lukas Smith; and one great-granddaughter, Vivian Grace Smith. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Conley, and a sister, Ruth Conley Wright.

Services will be 11 a.m., today at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Price officiating. Interment will be in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Bearers will be Mike Smith, Brad Smith, Eric Smith, Bobby Smith, Todd Smith and Travis Smith. Memorial contributions are suggested to Edgewood Baptist Church or Baptist Homes for children. Robert T. Plotts

Oct. 2, 1947 – Aug. 6, 2018

Robert T. Plotts, 70, husband of Cheryl Fain Plotts, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2018. He was born Oct. 2, 1947 to the late Robert L. and Mildred Mae Breidinger Plotts in Easton, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University and was a member of their football team.

Mr. Plotts was a sales representative for General Rubber and Plastics. He was also a member and past deacon at Church of the Savior. Mr. Plotts was an avid fisherman, a good father and loved his grandchildren dearly. He was always willing to help anyone in need and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife of almost 49 years, he is survived by his children, Dixie Plotts (Chris) Campbell, Nicholasville and Micah (Terri) Plotts, Lexington; his sisters, Patty (Steve) Bruggenschmidt, of Indiana, and Carol (Barrie) Fournier, of Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Brandon Plotts, Peyton Plotts, Jackson Plotts, Stirling Campbell, Hannah (Brayden) Campbell Hopper and Danyal Campbell; and his great-grandchildren, Leah Plotts, Landon Plotts and Levi Plotts.

A Memorial Service will be 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 10, 2018 at Church of the Savior with Rev. Steve Pearson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the start of the service. Charles L. Klaber

Sept. 21, 1954 – Aug. 5,2018

Charles Lewis Klaber, 63, passed away at home Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018. Services will be at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, 11 a.m., today, with Pastor Scott Bowman officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Nicholasville with committal services officiated by Lorraine Howard.

The family will receive friends at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018. 

Mr. Klaber was born in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky on Sept. 21, 1949, to the late Daniel Henry Klaber and Betty Jane Meek Klaber Renaker. He was united in marriage to his loving wife, Sheila Howard Klaber. He worked at Jim Beam Distillery as a whiskey processor, and previously worked at General Electric. He had a passion for classic cars. Above all, he was a loving and caring husband with a kind and generous heart. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Casey Klaber and Carrie Klaber; step-sons, Christopher Thom (Amber) and Michael Thom (Jessica); brother, Thomas Klaber, and by one grandchild. He was also blessed with his beloved canine companion, Sunnie Sue.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Thom, Sally Powell, Tim Wheeler, Floyd Smith, Steve Belt and Jim Huey. Honorary will be Don Wilson, Sam Wiley, Tim Sullivan, Bill Beasley and Laura Dillon.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to The Franklin County Human Society or Bluegrass Hospice Care.
