Joyce Karyl Jasper

Aug. 13, 1953 – June 28, 2018

Joyce Karyl Jasper, age 64, passed away from this life to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 28th after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth Marie Jasper, her father Woodrow Jasper and a brother Donny Jasper. She is survived by her son Howard Damon Goldey, her brother Ronny Clay Jasper, her husband and best friend Roger Perry and two very special dogs Rogetta and Missy who she loved very much. She is also survived by two special aunts Mildred and Tootle, and numerous special cousins and their spouses. Her hobbies were boating, swimming and working in her flowers. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and watching U.K. basketball. She was a beautiful, sweet and loving lady with a big heart and will be greatly missed by all family and friends who knew her. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 2, 2018 at Betts and West Funeral Home. Funeral services were Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, burial followed in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Billy Gillispie Fayne

Sept. 22, 1940 – July 4, 2018

Billy Gillispie Fayne, Sr., beloved husband, father, and brother passed away on July 4, 2018 at his home in Nicholasville.

He was born Sept. 22, 1940 to the late William and Jeanette Buffin Fayne in Versailles, Kentucky.

Billy served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was also a minister at Edgelawn Baptist Church in Lexington.

Billy is survived by his wife Joyce Henry Fayne; daughters, Vanessa Fayne and Letitia “Candy” (Michael) Glass; sons, Bill (Vickie) Fayne, Jr. and Nathan (Andrea) Fayne; brother Jackie Fayne and six grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing, 601 E. Brannon Rd. Nicholasville, KY. Services will be Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing. Burial at Camp Nelson immediately following the service.

The family has requested contributions be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Wounded Warrior in memory of Billy Fayne.

James E. Dyche

July 21, 1923 – July 5, 2018

James (Jim) E. Dyche, 94, of Wilmore, Kentucky passed on July 5, 2018. He was given an Honor Guard burial by the military at Camp Nelson National Cemetery on July 10, 2018.

He was a highly decorated WWII veteran and, at his passing, resided at Thompson-Hood Veteran Center in Wilmore, Kentucky. His life was lived being a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Fishing was his favorite pastime.

His wife, Mary Jane Dyche and two of his children, Richard and Sherry, preceded him in passing as had his mother, father, another brother, and sister. He is survived by his sister, Wilma Hocker of Knoxville, Tennessee and other children, Connie Blair of Lexington, Kentucky; Pat (Mike) Forbes of Wilmore, Kentucky; Rock (Sue) Mills of Lexington, Kentucky; Lynne Mills and Raejuana Mills of Wilmore, Kentucky, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

It was his request that any donations be made to the Camp Nelson Honor Guard of Jessamine County, Kentucky who provide military burials to all Kentucky military veterans upon request. This is an all-volunteer organization.

The family would like to thank Thompson-Hood Veterans Center for the loving care of he, and his veteran family there.

Leroy Graham

Dec. 16, 1937 – July 9, 2018

Leroy Graham, 80, passed on Tuesday, July 9, 2018. He was born on Dec. 16, 1937, in Garrard County to Otis Martin and Zella Mae Merrell Graham. Leroy worked in the housekeeping industry at St. Joe Hospital. He was a resident of Nicholasville. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling. He is survived by his son James (Cheryl) Graham, two daughters Kim Graham, and Letessia Baker, twelve grandchildren, several great grandchildren, two sisters, one brother, and other family members. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Harp Graham, and one grandchild, Frankie Baker. Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, July 13, Betts and West Funeral Home. Pastor Danny Mulcahy will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will also be Friday, Betts and West, starting at 11 a.m. until the time of service. Raymond Burch

Feb. 25, 1929 – June 28, 2018

Raymond Headley Burch, Jr., 89, of Gainesville, Georgia passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018. Ray was born on Feb. 25, 1929 in Nicholasville, Kentucky. He was the only child of Catharine Wagner and Raymond H. Burch, Sr. The significance of family impacted Ray from his early childhood, and it was through his family and wide range of friends, that Ray would find great joy in life. The brightness that he would come to share with so many others radiated through his generous smile and love of life.

He attended University High School in Lexington, Kentucky, where he played varsity basketball, performed in Glee Club and was on yearbook staff. He graduated from University of Kentucky in 1951 and was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.

On Dec. 27, 1952, Ray married Madge Hunter Farra, who was the cousin of Ray’s next door neighbors, Ann and Barney Hunter. Although Ray had noticed Madge when she would visit the Hunters, it wasn’t until they double dated in college and Ray negotiated a ‘date trade’, that their story began. They fell in love, married and moved to Clark Air Force Base, Philippine Islands in January 1953 where Ray reported for duty as Second Lieutenant of the US Air Force.

After Ray finished his five-year tour with the US Air Force, he started work with Ralston Purina in St. Louis, Missouri in 1955, and then accepted a transfer to Gainesville, Georgia in 1957. Ray made a move to business development and sales with Twin Oaks Hatchery in 1959. In 1961 he joined CWT Farms and was responsible for developing the export and international sales for that company. CWT won the National “E” for Excellence in Export and the “E Star” award, for its international export of poultry hatching eggs. Over the years, the operation included approximately 120 production farms and CWT exported to over 40 countries in North and South America, The Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The U.S. Secretaries of Agriculture and Commerce presented these national awards. Ray was President of CWT for over three decades, and then became Chairman of the Board.

Ray served on the Georgia Poultry Leaders Round Table, starting in 1978 and was Georgia Poultry Federation President for 1966 to 1967. He also served as state vice-president and director of South-Eastern Poultry and Egg Association for seven years.

Ray was selected to the Brenau University Board of Trustees in the late 1980’s, until he recently retired. He also served as the Chairman for the Hall County Development Authority from 1983 to 1986. As Chattahoochee Country Club President in 1984, Ray was instrumental in the construction of the current CCC facilities. Ray was also active in Jaycees and the Kiwanis Club, the latter of which he was Director.

Although Ray freely shared his joy and enthusiasm with everyone he met, those closest to him knew it was his wife, four children, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren who were the source of his greatest happiness. He was most proud of Madge, his loving wife of nearly 66 years and being the “#1 Dad” to Nancy (& Bob Muir), Susan (& John Eddy), Emily (& Chris Zimmerman), and Scott. The progeny of these four came every summer for the “Cousins Reunion” hosted by ‘Grandy and Pops’ for almost two decades. Drew (Sharyn) and Missy (Francisco Cruz) Muir; Allison, Michael, William and Madeline Eddy; Kate and Ted Zimmerman; Parker and Wagner Burch were the light of Grandy & Pops’ summer. The tradition will be continued, beginning with great grandchildren Amelia, Olivia and Isaac Cruz.

Ray was the amazing patriarch who always provided exceptional conversation, genuine interest, and the adventurous spirit which we so loved. We are deeply grateful for the legacy of love, joy and selflessness that Ray leaves behind. He will be greatly missed.

Memorial Service at Gainesville First United Methodist Church Sanctuary Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 3 p.m. Reception following service at Chattahoochee Country Club at 4:30 p.m.
