Public archaeological dig at Camp Nelson Heritage Park

Camp Nelson Heritage Park has scheduled an archaeological dig on the ground of the Civil War-era supply depot and recruitment center available for two sessions, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 16, July 14 and Aug.4. Camp Nelson is located at 6614 Danville Road. The dig will be led by Stephen McBride, director of interpretation. Adults and children are encouraged to participate, with children 5-years-old and under requiring an adult companion. Cost is $5 per person. America’s homecoming queen selection scheduled for Pigeon Forge

America’s 38th homecoming queen selection is scheduled for July 16 and 17 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Those who were selected as homecoming queen from 2017-18 and have not received their application are asked to call their high school or 901-755-9144. High school homecoming queens from 1981-2017 are invited to be a part of the celebration as well.
