Nicholasville man arrested for criminal mischief

Anthony D. Turner, 36, of 392 Hartley Drive in Nicholasville, was arrested on May 22 for third-degree burglary and first-degree criminal mischief, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to 101 N. Plaza Drive in reference to a possible burglary in process. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Turner who was standing in front of the store. The night clerk informed officers that he was the one who had called 911. The person who was attempting to rob Turner was ordered to the ground, handcuffed and detained.

Turner was unable to answer questions about what he was doing at the Marathon gas station or the events leading up to the officers arrival on scene. The only information he could give was his name and date of birth, according to the citation.

Turner was able to talk, although allegedly preceded to speak to people that were not there. When asked who he was speaking to, he told officers, “two guys with balls for Hannah and Amanda. We got to take this place here and run it.” Turner also stated that he owned Toyota on Nicholasville, was going to take Jon Sallee to the sheriff’s office and that he had frozen R.J. Corman’s bank accounts, according to the citation.

Turner was transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center.

Lawrenceburg man arrested for assault

Russell C. Sayre, 23, of 1143 Alton Station Road in Lawrenceburg, was arrested on May 20 for first-offense DUI and fourth-degree assault, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.

Sayre was observed driving on a public roadway by two Lexington officers who observed Sayre hit the female in his vehicle. The officers were able to get Sayre and his passenger out in the Kroger parking lot. Sayre allegedly admitted to drinking alcohol and was given a horizontal gaze test which he failed. Sayre was arrested for DUI and taken to the Jessamine County Detention center. Sayre asked to call his father instead of an attorney, according to the citation.

The female in the vehicle allegedly told officers that they were only arguing and she was pushed, and finally admitted that Sayre hit her in the vehicle causing pain, according to the citation. The female had a small trickle of blood from her upper lip. Another female pulled up and allegedly told officers she witnessed the violence and was in fear of the passengers safety.

Sayre also had a warrant our for his arrest for fourth-degree assault with the same female, according to the citation.

Man arrested after overdose in vehicle

Dennie Huff, 47, address unknown, was arrested for DUI, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.

Officers responded to 411 S. Main St. in reference to an overdose at the Family Dollar. On scene, officers observed Huff in the drivers seat of the vehicle with his keys in the ignition, according to the citation.

Huff allegedly gained consciousness once Narcan was administered, and had experienced an overdose after using suspected heroin. Multiple syringes were allegedly recovered from the vehicle, two of which were found on the dash board. Huff was transported to St. Joseph Jessamine where he refused a Kentucky State Police drug test. Huff was then transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.

Lexington man arrested for possession, trafficking in controlled substance

David J. Meyer, 45, of 2808 Clays Mill Road in Lexington, was arrested on May 22 for trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.

Officers received a call that Meyer was sitting outside of 908 Wabarto allegedly dealing drugs.  The caller advised a female had exchanged envelopes with someone inside Meyer’s vehicle. Upon contact with Meyer, it was discovered that he had two open warrants for his arrest. Meyer allegedly told officers there was a joint in a cigarette pack in the cup holder. Upon searching the truck, officers allegedly located a baggie of suspected methamphetamine underneath the center console packaged for sale. Officers also found a black zippered pouch laying on the floor next to the driver’s floorboard. Inside was methamphetamine, six morphine tablets, new ziplock baggies, a set of digital scales and several bundles of cash rolled up with narcotics. Officers confronted Meyer who allegedly claimed all of the narcotics. Meyer gave consent for officers to look at his cell phone, where messages pertaining to the buying and selling of narcotics were present. Meyer’s phone was seized and booked as evidence. He was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.

Lancaster man arrested for possession of marijuana

Tanner Graham,20, of 515 Danville Road in Lancaster, was arrested on May 26 for trafficking in marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.

Officers received a call of a noise complaint, and upon arrival were told of an alleged drug transaction occurring near a red pickup truck. Upon approaching the scene, Graham allegedly began walking away from a red Mazda pick up truck with a plastic shopping bag. Graham admitted to being in possession of marijuana, and as officers opened the shopping bag Graham admitted to possession of cocaine, according to the citation.

Upon searching the shopping bag, officers found a large quantity of marijuana, a small portion of marijuana and a small baggie containing cocaine.

Graham was arrested and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.

Nicholasville man arrested for possession of marijuana

Lakin Riley Todd, 23, of 428 Miles Road in Nicholasville, was arrested on May 26 for DUI and possession of marijuana, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.

Todd was observed traveling east down East Maple Street allegedly going slower than the posted speed limit and weaving in and out of his lane of travel. The vehicle had only one tail lamp illuminated, according to the citation.

Todd turned on Miles Road and allegedly crossed over into the oncoming traffic. Upon contact with Todd, he was observed as having slurred speech and seemed allegedly lethargic. Todd had red eyes, and allegedly told officers he has an eye infection, according to the citation.

Todd refused a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest. Upon searching, officers found seven grams of marijuana inside Todd’s left pant pocket. Todd admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day and was transported to St. Joseph Jessamine where he refused a blood test. Todd was then transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.

Maryland man arrested for DUI

Joshua Antonio Kirkland, 21, of 1423 Farmcrest Way in Silver Springs, Maryland, was arrested on May 26 for speeding 25 MPH over the speed limit, failure to dim headlights and DUI, according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.

Officers observed Kirkland traveling southbound on the US27 at a high rate of speed, having their bright lights illuminated and failing to turn them off for other vehicles on the roadway. Kirkland was stopped, and was described as having slurred speech and appearing very lethargic. Kirkland stated that he did not consume any drugs or alcohol prior to operating the motor vehicle. A horizontal gaze test was performed which Kirkland failed. A search incident resulted in a plastic bag with marijuana residue which was located among a sum of cash. Kirkland was transported to St. Joseph Jessamine for a blood test, and later transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center, according to the citation.

Nicholasville woman arrested for public intoxication

Angela Byrd, 36, of 448 Corman Road in Nicholasville, was arrested for public intoxication (excluding alcohol), according to a citation issued by the Nicholasville Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the Fivestar located at 708 S. Main St. in reference to a female causing a disturbance, who allegedly changed clothes inside the store, washed her hair in the slushy machine and poured soda all over the floor, according to the citation.

Byrd was located around the corner of the store with damp hair and carrying clothing. She was described as appearing to be under the influence of a substance other than alcohol, and allegedly could not answer law enforcement questions without rambling appearing to also have no control over her body movements.

Visual sores were observed on Byrd’s arms and face, pursuant to methamphetamine use, according to the citation. Byrd was placed under arrest and transported to the Jessamine County Detention Center.

­­— David A. Smith, 47, of 201 N. Second St. in Nicholasville,was arrested on May 21 for alcohol intoxication in a public place.
