Ruth Raisch Lashbrook Mitchell

Jan. 3, 1917 – Feb. 14, 2018

Ruth Raisch Lashbrook Mitchell, 101, the matriarch of her family, went to be with Jesus on Feb. 14, 2018. She was a native of Ohio born Jan. 3, 1917, to the late Clarence and Goldie T. Raisch. Ruth was the widow of Jack Lashbrook and J.R. Mitchell.

A dearly loved teacher, Ruth taught English at Asbury College from 1964 to 1982. She was honored by the City of Wilmore and Mayor Harold Rainwater in 2017 for her 100th birthday with a presentation of a Key to the City of Wilmore and Plaque commending her longevity and the contribution she made to the community. She leaves to cherish her memories sons James, wife Lena, John, Roger, wife Nancy, and daughter-in-law Bonnie Lashbrook, widow of Paul, as well as her five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Ruth was one of seven children and is survived by two sisters Eva Werth and Martha Dawson and is preceded in death by 3 brothers Ezra, David, and John Raisch, a sister Esther Yates and granddaughter Lisa.

A Remembrance Service will be held 11 a.m. March 3, 2017, at Wilmore Free Methodist Church, where the family will greet visitors on Sat. March 3, starting at 10 a.m. She was laid to rest in Wilmore Cemetery beside her husband Jack prior to the service. “Grief never ends…but it changes, it is a passage and is the price of love”. Norma Jean Cuzick, 85, widow of Ruford Clinton Cuzick, passed away on Feb. 16, 2018. She was born Aug. 22, 1932 in Casey County, Kentucky to the late Marion and Vertie Brockman Wilson. Surviving relatives are a son, Michael L. (Darlene) Cuzick, two grandchildren, Kathryn (Brian) Gunn and Michael Clinton Cuzick, four great grandchildren, McKenzie and Tanner Gunn, Emily Cuzick and Hailey Alcorn, a sister, Wildean Gilpin, sister in law, Pat Wilson, many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Chester Wilson. Service will be 8 p.m. Tuesday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. DeWayne Brewer officiating. Pendleton “Penn” Reynolds, 81 died, Feb. 12, 2018. He is survived by his wife Lydia Reynolds; daughters Vicki Faille and Donna Kukuk; three granddaughters and one great granddaughter. Visitation was held, Feb. 16, 2018, service was Feb. 17 at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing burial at Maple Grove Cemetery.
