The Jessamine County Future Farmer’s of America mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students in Jessamine County by developing their potential in leadership, personal growth and career success through agriculture.

Since 1928, the Kentucky FFA has set out to accomplish this goal for former and current members of the organization.

The Jessamine County FFA participated in many events throughout last year highlighting and showcasing what it means to be an FFA member.

   Jessamine County FFA attended a Leadership Workshop last Saturday at Leestown Middle School in Lexington. The conference was hosted by Locust Trace FFA and was held for the purpose of obtaining growth goals. Those in attendance were top row: Tyler Berryman, Zack Maxey, Melvin Zarate.    Katelyn Scales, a freshman at West Jessamine High School, is a first-year FFA member and said, “At the 212 conference on Saturday we learned about four main types of growth, physical, mental, emotional, and social growth. To help us accomplish these goals we did some activities that helped us create healthy habits and use our critical and creative thinking skills. We also did some things that helped us learn about who we truly are and how others see us versus how we see ourselves. We saw how bullying and cyberbullying can affect our mental growth and what we need to do when we see bullying online. This conference taught me how I can grow as a leader and as a person and how I can carry these skills with me in the future.”
