For the third year, the Eastern Kentucky University Office of Military and Veteran Affairs delivered gifts to every resident of the Thomson-Hood Nursing Home on Dec. 21. The first year, 30 gifts were delivered, followed by 50 gifts the second year. This year, EKU’s Office of Military and Veteran Affairs delivered more than 160 gifts. These gifts were made possible by Angel Trees placed on campus, as well as the Campus Warehouse’s Richmond Centre location. Residents of the nursing home received shirts from the university, as well as shirts representing their branch of service. The university undertook this project as a way to connect with the veterans of the nursing home and to recognize each of them for their service.
