THURSDAY

Nicholasville Elementary’s Site Based Decision Council will meet at 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12, October 17, November 14, December 12, January 16, February 13, March 13, April 10, May 15 and June 12 in the Nicholasville Elementary School Library.

Wilmore TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) weight-loss support group meets Thursdays in the community room at Jessamine Village, at the end of South Maple Street in Wilmore. New members are welcome. Contact Eva Jacobs at 859-858-3456.

— The meetings of the Jessamine County Democratic Executive Committee will be held on the third Thursday of each month from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Jessamine County Democratic Headquarters at 219 N. The Family Center at 334 East Main in Wilmore hosts Night Owls Time! every Thursday at 6:15 p.m., catering to families with working parents or student parents (or those who are just night owls). Doors open early so that you can bring your supper. Donations accepted.

SATURDAY

— The Bluegrass Ironmen a nonprofit Men’s Ministry meets every Saturday morning at 203 Oak Street (behind CVS Pharmacy) in Nicholasville for a hot breakfast. The breakfast cost is $3 during the summer and the regular cost during fall and spring is $5, and if it your first time it is free. Those who would like to come and cannot afford the cost it is free also. We have a speaker that usually takes about a half an hour and then we have table discussions on the speaker’s topic.

— On the second Saturday of every month, The Family Center in Wilmore will host Bellies and Beyond: Birth Plans at 10 a.m. The program will help mothers with pregnancy and the first year.

— On the third Saturday of every month, The Family Center in Wilmore will host Minecraft from 5 – 10 p.m. Check out Facebook (fb.me/familycenterky) or call 270-403-6488 to register which hours you want to participate. There are two worlds to choose from: a themed world with mods, and a persistent open world. Children under 13 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Donations suggested, but free for members.

SUNDAY

— The Wilmore Senior Community Center is hosting a worship service with “Church of All Nations” at 2:30 p.m. with pastor Hunn Choi and his Korean Congregation Choir preaching and singing.

MONDAY

— The Jessamine County Fire District Board of Trustees will meet at 4:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the Jessamine County Fire District Station 1 located at 1310 S. Main Street in Nicholasville.

The Family Center in Wilmore hosts Preschool Time!, a skill based meet-up helping families engage in a little edu-fun that allows parents to help their children with early literacy, math,
and science both gross and fine motor skills with ideas to try at home at 9:30 a.m. Younger and older siblings welcome. Giving them ideas to try at home. Free for members, but donations accepted.

The Family Center hosts Crunch Time!, a weekly meet-up for those looking for other families who
breastfeed, cloth diaper, practice gentle discipline, babywear, and other natural parenting or “crunchy” practices. Every week at noon (food welcome). Donation accepted and free for members.

TUESDAY

Al-Anon’s Saturday morning meetings in Nicholasville are now cancelled. A new Al-Anon meeting using the same Al-Anon 12-Step program will be hosted in Wilmore at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays each week at the Wilmore United Methodist Church located at 209 E. Main Street, in Wilmore. Al-Anon meetings are for those troubled by another’s alcohol use, or substance abuse. American Legion Post No. 63, Jessamine Senior Citizens Center, 111 Hoover Drive, meets at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. For more information, email: dathor1@email.uky.edu.

— The Wilmore Senior Community Center hosts scrapbooking with Sharon Campbell every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Jessamine County Piece Quilters will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday at Nicholasville Christian Church. Beginner to advanced quilters are welcome. For more information, call 859-881-1854 or visit www.jesspq.org.

WEDNESDAY

— The Wilmore Senior Community Center is hosting an afternoon tea and reading with Dr. John Oswalt of Asbury Seminary sharing passages from his favorite books and short stories.

— Play Time! at The Family Center allows families of all ages and stages to explore toys, games, books and crafts with a new theme each month. In honor of National Pediatric Health Month, your child(ren) can pretend to be a nurse, doctor, EMT or other medical professional with all our fun items! Drop in anytime between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Suggested donation of $3 per family and free for members.

— The Wilmore Senior Community Center will host Flex Exercise with Aureol at 11 a.m. on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays.

UPCOMING EVENTS 

— The YMCA will host Zumba Nov. 6 – 27 at 6 p.m. at the Caroline Memorial Community Center at 220 E. Maple St. in Nicholasville. Call 859-885-5013 for more information.

St. Luke Women’s Club Annual Christmas Bazaar will take place this year on Dec. 5-8. Each day, the Bazaar will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and shoppers will have the opportunity to enjoy a hot lunch in the La Petite Cucina. New offerings are on the menu this year including La Petite Cucina’s own version of a chicken pot pie, pork loin with gravy with sides in a bowl and the old great southern favorite of soup beans and corn bread. Choose from hand-made jewelry, crochet or knitted items, Christmas decor, hand made baskets, low-priced fashion jewelry and accessories, canned goods, and delicious baked breads and desserts. St. Luke is located at 304 South Main Street in Nicholasville.
