Jessamine County FFA attends 90th National Convention

The Jessamine County FFA Chapter attended the National Convention in Indianapolis last week. They represented their home county and school system well, bringing home several accolades and awards.
The chapter was recognized as a National 3 Star Chapter — the highest rating achievable — making Jessamine County one of only eight chapters from Kentucky with the distinction.
At the event, the Milk Quality and Products team, comprised of Matthew DeMoss-Hale, Tyler Berryman, Ashley Smith and Jessica Doolin, was awarded a bronze rating. Smith was individually awarded the silver rating, while DeMoss-Hale, Berryman and Doolin were awarded the bronze rating.
In addition, the team ranked fifth nationally in the team activity portion of the contest. The activity consisted of interpreting milk quality data, performing quality control tests and calculations, and then presenting recommendations to a panel of judges.
Also at the convention, Jessamine County FFA member and former state FFA officer Joseph Brock was awarded the American FFA degree, which is the highest degree awarded to an FFA member. Only 4,000 of approximately 650,000 members earned the degree this year.
“Thank you for your support of the events our executive team and members plan each year,” JCTC Agriculture teacher Ali Myers stated in a release. “This honor is a direct result of those many successful events.”
