On Oct. 10 at 7 p.m., the Jessamine County-Wilmore Joint Planning Commission will hear a zone-busting development plan which attempts to turn a farm on U.S. 68 into a high-density development with homes on septic tanks. The farm is in the center of other farms, bordered by McCauley, Walden Way, Clear Creek and Harrodsburg roads.

The zone change request from A-1 Agriculture to R-1 High Density residential is in conflict with many of the goals of our comprehensive plan, and if passed would set a precedent for high density development of our farmland throughout the country.

A small creek runs through this farm and then flows to other farms where cattle and other animals drink. If effluent from the many septic tanks leaches into the creek, then other farms will be adversely impacted.

Please attend this meeting at the Jessamine County Courthouse fiscal court meeting room and tell the commissioners to follow the comprehensive plan and not the wishes of a developer trying to make an easy buck at the expense of our beautiful county and farms.
