ACT Practice Test

Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 4:30 – 7 p.m.

Join us for an ACT Practice Test hosted in collaboration with Kaplan. Participants will be able to take and then score their practice tests during the program. Grades 6-12 only. Registration is required to participate, and patrons must be registered by Monday, Sept. 11 in order to score their practice test.

Pound Exercise Class

Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Pound is a jam session / cardio workout inspired by the infectious, energizing fun of playing the drums. Fitness instructor Chris Chandler will lead the classes. All equipment is provided. Please register.

Jump & Jive

Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 10:30 – 11 a.m.

Join with us as we sing and dance to your favorite storytime songs and rhymes. This high-energy program is specifically geared for kids 0-5 years of age. Families will have fun together as they enjoy age-appropriate songs, rhymes and fingerplays. This is a great time for the whole family to learn their child’s favorite storytime rhymes and songs.

Driveway to 5K First Practice & Orientation

Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 10 – 11 a.m.

Whether you are a self-proclaimed couch potato or a veteran runner, our Driveway to 5K team welcomes you to train with us. We offer an easy walk / run program for those attempting to finish a race for the first time, plus tips and camaraderie for experienced racers. At this meeting we will hand out packets and waivers, explain the program, then go for a short run through the neighborhood behind the library and return for light refreshments. Participants are encouraged to stay for the Body Mechanics Workshop that follows immediately afterward.

Body Mechanics 101

Body mechanics is a term used to describe the ways we move as we go about our daily lives. It includes how we hold our bodies when we sit, stand, lift, carry, bend, and sleep. Poor body mechanics are often the cause of pain and injury. Proper body mechanics can alleviate pain, prevent injury, and improve your overall well-being.

Professional running coach and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Neal Butler, will lead a workshop in the fundamentals of proper posture and gait for standing, walking and running. He will help participants learn how improve their coordination, strength and flexibility so that they can perform physical tasks and exercises with ease. Mother Goose Storytime

Mother Goose storytime is designed to provide parents/caregivers and young children time to enjoy books and reading together. Interaction between adults and their children is encouraged through stories, lap songs and fingerplays.

No registration is required for this program, so please attend as often as you are able…

Machine Sewing Basics

Learn the basics of machine sewing and complete a simple project to take home. We will have three 1 hour sessions of this class. Registration is required and limited to 5 people per session.

Think you know pop culture and trivia? Want to test your skills and win some prizes? Come join us every Monday for Teen Trivia! Topics include: music, sports, food, Harry Potter, video games, anime, books, and more! This is a come-and-go program and registration is not required.

Video Recording Basics

Monday, Sept. 18, 2017 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Explore the basics of planning and shooting videos; how to control your video camera, execute different shots, and use camera motion techniques. You’ll script and storyboard short movie sequences and develop an understanding of the technology setup and lighting.
