This Saturday and Sunday, everyone is welcome to experience military civilian life during the Civil War era at one of the nation’s most well-preserved Union Army Supply Depot and Recruitment historical sites.

A new feature at this year’s event will be a Civil War-era Punch and Judy Marionette Show, and a period-accurate cricket sport exhibition for all to play or watch. Plus, the School of the Soldier invites children to learn infantry training. Everyone is invited to meet General U.S. Grant, Frederick Douglass and abolitionist John G. Fee.

In addition, the event will include an herbal medicine presentation, artillery demonstrations, a cannon-firing, live music, an archaeological dig and a period church service on Sunday morning. Tours of the antebellum White House and the fortifications will be available.

Gates will open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and at  at 9 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. respectively on Sunday. Admission is $5.00 per carload.

Camp Nelson Heritage Park is located six miles south of Nicholasville on U.S. 27. The Park’s entrance is on KY 3026, which runs parallel to U.S. 27, one mile north of the Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
