Rosalee “Rose” Buss

Feb. 5, 1947, – July 13, 2017

Rosalee “Rose” Buss, 70, of Nicholasville, and wife of Kenneth Buss, died July 13, 2017, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Born February 5, 1947, in Freeport, IL, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Lucille Tamling Kuhlemeyer. Rose was a homemaker, an accomplished pianist, and assisted Ken with his insurance business, but mostly will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors other than her husband include two children, Jody (Richard) Gibbs, Lexington and Troy (Melinda) Buss, Louisville; and five grandchildren, Nicole, Christian, Kaetlyn, Ryan, and Luke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Buss. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 13 at The Willows at Fritz Farm, 2710 Man O War Blvd. in Lexington. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Anna Ruth Penick

Aug. 1, 1942 – July 25, 2017

Anna Ruth Penick, 75, mother of Ricky Penick, died July 25, 2017. She was a loving mother, a caring friend and she will be missed. Betts & West is honored to serve.

Alan Moulton

March 1, 1938 – July 26, 2017

Dr. Alan Edgar Moulton, 79, died July 26, 2017. Dr. Moulton was retired after 33 years as Professor of Psychology at Asbury University. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 5 at Wilmore Free Methodist Church in Wilmore. The funeral service will immediately follow. Arrangements are with Clark Legacy Center in Brannon Crossing.

Ronald Houp

April 5, 1938 – July 27, 2017

Ronald Edward Houp, 79, husband of Sarah Katherine Hanke Houp, passed Thursday, July 27, 2017. He was born April 5, 1938 in High Bridge, to the late Jesse Lee and Cleo Dawn Horn Houp. Ronald was a biologist for the state of Kentucky, a member of the North American Benthological Society, South Eastern Water Pollution Biologist Association and a Marine Veteran. He also liked to farm and had a keen interest in the High Bridge area. Additional family survivors are three children, Ron (Kathy) Houp Jr., Susan Houp (Matthew) Morris, and George Wesley (Laura) Houp; eight grandchildren, Will (Dara) Houp, Sarah Houp, Emily Houp, Christopher Houp, Henry Houp, Chloe Houp, and Ridgeland Morris, two brothers, Kenneth (Brenda) Houp and Harry B. Houp; and other family members. Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Gathering of family and friends will be Noon Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at High Bridge Pavilion. Arrangements by Betts & West Funeral Home.

Edward Bradshaw

Feb. 8, 1934 – July 28, 2017

Edward S. Bradshaw 83, (aka Reddy Eddie, the short circuit from Short Creek), loving devoted husband and father entered Heavens gates on July 28, 2017. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Bradshaw of 63 years; one daughter, Karen Jaeger (Don); sons Scott Bradshaw (Karen), Byron Bradshaw (Marsha); son-in-law, Rick Provine (Ann); nine grandchildren, James Jaeger (Nancy), Michael Jaeger (Aimee), Haydon, Garrett, Nathan, Bethany Bradshaw, Lee Thompson, Reggie Provine, Savannah Provine; four great grandchildren, Joslyn, Caleb, Ryder, Jayzen Jaeger; sister Mary Ann Hoover of Louisville. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Flora Shain of Short Creek, daughter Cheryl Provine, brother Johnny Bradshaw. Ed was a benevolent resourceful efficient energetic talented man. His many talents included stained glass, instrument making, wood working, jewelry making, gardening, comedian, performer, song writer and Mr. Fix it. He played in the band, Jessamine Creek Express, as their mandolin player and vocalist. Memorial service will be held Saturday, August 5 at First Alliance Church, Higbee Mill Road in Lexington. Visitation from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and the celebration is at 2:30 p.m. En Lieu of flowers the family requests donations to American Cancer Society or Bluegrass Care Navigators (hospice). Betts and West Funeral Home provided their services to his family.

William Stubblefield

Jan. 26, 1949 – July 28, 2017

William Theodore Stubblefield, 68, husband of Kathy, passed July 28. The service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 12 at Betts & West Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday until the service.

Linda Duggins

March 17, 1950 – July 29, 2017

Linda Ferrell Duggins, 67, of Lancaster, passed away July 29. The funeral services were Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home. The burial was in Lancaster Cemetery.

Etta Frye

Dec. 15, 1942 – July 30, 2017

Etta Marie Mays Frye, 74, widow of James T. Frye, passed Sunday, July 30, 2017. She was born December 15, 1942 in Jackson County to the late Walker and Zoda Margaret Fox Mays. Etta was a member of the Apostolic Fellowship Holiness Church. She liked to quilt and do embroidery. Family survivors are four children, Rickie Frye, Gail (Dale) Freeman, Patricia (Kenneth) Ritchie, and Zella (Oracio) Garcia; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Frye. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Friday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
